Delhi Sultanate
1206 AD – 1450 AD · peak 1330 AD
The Delhi Sultanate (1206–1526 AD) was a succession of five Turkic and Afghan dynasties that established Islamic rule over large parts of the Indian subcontinent. Major architectural contributions include the Qutb Minar, and the state reached its maximum territorial extent under the Tughlaq dynasty. Internal instability and the invasion of Babur at the Battle of Panipat led to its replacement by the Mughal Empire in 1526 AD.
