Hittite Kingdom
1650 BC – 1178 BC · peak 1300 BC
The Hittite Empire (c. 1650–1178 BC) was an Anatolian power centered at Hattusa that pioneered large-scale chariot warfare and iron metallurgy. It reached a territorial peak under Suppiluliuma I and signed the Treaty of Kadesh with Egypt following the 1274 BC conflict. The empire fell during the Bronze Age Collapse as regional trade routes failed and the Sea Peoples invaded.
